I was so excited for my new project before I went to uni yesterday, had it all planned out roughly and was excited that for once it was a project I was totally into and I was going to make some awesome photos for my portfolio, come out of the tutorial feeling absolutley confused and annoyed because I basically got told my idea wasn’t ‘deep’ enough and that making good props wasn’t going to get me better marks and that I need to look up psychadelic 60’s art and tripping out… NO IDEA where that came from considering I said I wanted to make a fashion editorial and showed her references and ideas and my shoot plan drawing, which she said I should do but my final images won’t look like that… Sorry but fuck off. I’m getting myself in stupid debt so that I can learn more about photography and make a portfolio I’m proud of, and I’m sick of constantly being pushed away from what I want to do! I understand fashion photography isn’t for everyone, but I just feel like we’re not encouraged to do it, they don’t give the backing and support for it, and just favour everyone who’s doing documentary.
Annoyed.
